About the Item

Stunning table lamp designed by Roger Capron and Jean Derval, this piece is made from ceramic and features a striking central design. Depending on your perspective, you may see a single face divided into two halves or two characters smiling at one another. Artist’s stamp on the bottom back of the lamp “Capron Valloris France”. Topped with a modern shade Dimensions without shade: 26 x 19 H45cm Roger Capron (1922-2006) Roger Capron is a well-known French ceramist who worked most of his life in Vallauris, a town famous for his pottery tradition. After studying and teaching in Paris applied arts, he moved to Vallauris in 1946, where he opened his own ceramic workshop, known as the “Atelier Callis”. In 1952, Roger Capron purchased an abandoned pottery in Vallauris and opened a small ceramics factory, destinated to produce small ceramics and decorative panels and tiles. By the end of the 1950’s he had gained an international recognition and by the 1980’s his factory employed more than 120 workers and produced a wide range of pieces, such as: vases, lamps, tables, tiles, panels and other objects. During the decade of the 1990’s and helped by his wife, Jacotte and Jean-Paul Bonnet, he started to create only unique sculptural pieces destined for galleries around the world.
