About the Item
Exquisitely handcrafted by Amitābha Studio in Amsterdam from a vintage Royal Delft (De Porceleyne Fles) White (Delfts Wit) vase, Severn is a lovely addition to our fresh blue and white series of one-of-a-kind table lamps. We've paired this unique vase base with a bespoke lampshade made from limited edition Morris & Co. fabric, featuring the elegant 'Severn' damask pattern designed by J.H. Dearle in 1880. The fabric, printed at Morris Merton Abbey workshop in South London, showcases acanthus leaves framing a central flowerhead, adding a touch of classic elegance to the lamp. The blue cord complements the lampshade, enhancing the overall aesthetic. The lamp was created without harming the original vase in any way.
This unique table lamp is perfect for fresh maximalist, coastal or classic interior. The vintage Royal Delft White vase base catches the light beautifully, showcasing its distinctive shape and craftsmanship. Royal Delft, the only remaining ceramics factory out of 32 established in Delft during the 17th century, has been producing high-quality Delftware since 1653. Known for their artistry, Royal Delft began creating Delft White models in the 1930s as a utilitarian yet artistic response to the economic depression and World War II. These models emphasize the unique shapes of the vases, a tradition that continues today with limited production.
