About the Item
Sculptural Brutalist table lamp designed and manufactured by the abstract artists and sculptor Paul Moerenhout from Brussels, Belgium, 1970's.
The body of the lamp is composed of metal branches like arms and leaf or flower shapes, brazed with melted brass. and gilded. It stands on a white rock of rough cut marble base. The tapered cream lamp shade when lit shines a warm light over the sculpted base.
Brutalism expresses its design through raw materials and its style of execution. Its Brutalist life evolved around the 1950's to the 1970's at its height, rejecting ornamentation of the past. and created an aesthetic for the modern age.
