A Set of Six 'Belle Epoque' Gilt-Bronze And Onyx Figural Table Lamps. These charming table lamps are modelled as flowering cornucopia with putto figures chasing butterflies. The oval bases are of Algerian onyx. Wired for electricity. France, Circa 1900. Provenance: Alfred de Rothschild (1842-1918) at Halton House, Buckinghamshire. Lionel de Rothschild (1882-1942). Edmund de Rothschild (1916-2009) at Exbury House, Hampshire. Height : 32 cm 13 inches Width : 15 cm 6 inches Depth : 15 cm 6 inches Total Height : 53 cm 21 inches

A Pair of Regency Style Gilt and Patinated Bronze Floor Lamps or 'Torchères', After The Models By James Smethurst of New Bond Street. Each with central lidded urn above three fluted branches with tulip-shaped glass shades supported by three pelicans, the stands with rams’ head masks above monopodia supports on paw feet, England, 20th Century. This model of lamp, without pedestal, was invented by the Regency lamp-manufacturer James Smethurst of New Bond Street, whose registered mark of post-1814 has been recorded on period examples. A set of four lamps of identical pattern - although not apparently signed - is in the collection of the Dukes of Devonshire at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire.
