About the Item
Large "Volcano" table lamp by Maof, Spain, 1970s. Formed by a circular metal base with a half sphere of worked alabaster and 5 opaline globes. It has 2 switches: one to turn on the alabaster base, and another to turn on the 5 top lights. The shape of this lamp is reminiscent of an erupting volcano; hence its name Volcano. Very much in the style of the Space Age luminaires of the 60s and 70s, where the pieces emulated all kinds of effects from Space. With a certain atomic and sputnik air, very much in the style of the Spanish luminaires of Metalarte and Estiluz, and of the designs of Robert Sonneman.
For 6 E14 bulbs. Original installation revised. Slight signs of wear on the metal structure and chrome.
