About the Item
A superb example of Streamline Moderne design, this chrome desk lamp dates to around 1940 and embodies the sleek sophistication of late Art Deco aesthetics. The lamp features a gracefully curved arm that supports a tubular horizontal shade, paired with a stepped base — both hallmark elements of the Machine Age design ethos.
Finished in gleaming chrome, the lamp reflects the industrial elegance of the era while offering a minimalist profile that remains timeless. The original ball-chain pull switch is intact, and the lamp has been newly rewired for contemporary use.
Though unsigned, the piece is evocative of American industrial designers such as Gilbert Rohde or Russel Wright, whose work defined the modernist transition in decorative arts.
