Table Lamp in Hand Carved Wood and Burl Veneer. Europe, 1988.
This is a unique table lamp with a turned hand carved wooden stem and a base made out of wood and beautiful burl veneer. Almost certainly this is a one-off piece made by a craftsman. A truly joyful design with the skillfully made turned stem and the octagonal base in expressive burl veneer.
The lamp really is something else. In a way it resembles works by for example art deco designers like Charles Dudouyt, but in terms of timeline and heritage this lamp has a style of its own. A unique piece - both as an item and as a design. Wonderful combined with brutalist or natural furniture.
Signed and dated at the base.
