Tall Brass Feldman Lighting Lamp with Lotus Flower Layered Detail c. 1955
About the Item
Majestic, organic and inspiring tall lotus flower brass lamp famously made by the Feldman Lighting Company beginning in the 1950s. Feldman Lighting offered a large line of lotus inspired fixtures, lamps, centerpieces and candle holders of many forms and sizes of which our shop carries several of. This particular lamp is the largest of the lotus flower line. As if born from light - each layer representing a season of life - a ring of lotus flower petals grows in size with each layer down to maturity and full bloom. The lotus traditionally symbolizes strength. It can grow in even polluted waters and bloom, just with light. It perseveres through even the toughest obstacles to bloom. Brass petals are embossed with small lines softening the brass and adding organic detail. They are also malleable and can be gently bent to your pleasure. Black lacquered wood base highlights and anchors the brass elements. Shown with a large black bucket lamp shade but the lamp rod is adjustable so you can select whichever lamp shade style and size suits you for your desired space. Professionally polished bringing back its original glamorous glow and clear coat lacquered to retain that polished look and shine. Works beautifully in any setting from Chinoiserie to Hollywood Regency to Contemporary and Eclectic. This tall lotus lamp is rare and sought after by collectors and fans of the Feldman Lighting Lotus Flower Line. Jennifer Lopez has enjoyed her pair for years. - Condition:Rewired. Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Every surface of this lamp was restored to its original state. Wood base was professionally refinished and lacquered in black as per original design. Brass parts were professionally polished and lacquered to retain the brass shine. Newly rewired.

Feldman Lighting Co.
The light that emanates from Feldman Lighting Company’s decorative chandeliers, pendants and sconces — encased in sculpted bronze and copper and frequently featuring motifs drawn from the natural world — embodies the brutalist movement of the mid-20th century.
The Los Angeles firm’s best known fixtures were produced in various styles from the late 1940s until the 1980s, and its most notable designer, Tom Greene was a graduate of UCLA’s dental school and originally worked as a dental prosthetist.
Beginning in the 1950s, when he wasn't at work in his dental lab, Greene would craft small jewelry pieces utilizing techniques that were typically reserved for making dental crowns and other prosthetics. Unsatisfied with jewelry as a medium, Greene stepped it up and began crafting free-form sculptures from brass and bronze, using an oxyacetylene torch to cut and heat the metal, and hammering it into shape with artisan tools (a torch-cut lamp of Greene’s appeared on Star Trek during the 1960s). He also worked with the ancient technique of lost-wax casting, which sees metal objects and furnishings cast from wax models.
Greene began producing fixtures for Lightolier and Feldman Lighting in the 1970s after seeing much success selling his pieces through Los Angeles furniture retailer and manufacturer Monteverdi-Young. Greene made numerous custom pieces for Feldman to adorn the Hollywood Regency-themed interiors of its Beverly Hills clientele.
The Feldman Lighting company folded by the mid-1980s and its vintage fixtures are highly valued by interior designers and collectors today.

Exquisite brass lotus flower Hollywood Regency table lamp by Feldman Lighting Company often described as in the style of Tommi Parzinger. When originally sold in the 1960s, Feldman Lotus Lamps were customized to the buyer's taste - one could select the number of branches and end pieces not unlike a flower arrangement. This particular lamp features four branches with a budding lotus flower, two leaves and a lotus bud all emanating from a lotus flower central stem. Beautifully detailed and etched, each brass piece is carved with organic markings for a more natural look. A most alluring and seductive glow emanates from the brass. Upper crust look and sensibility. We've always pictured this lamp glowing atop a beautiful console in an elegant entry. But in any room, this lamp will be a show stopper that you'll notice and admire each time you gaze upon it. The lamp was professionally rewired and professionally polished and lacquered to retain the brass glow.
