Thorvald Bindesbøll Bronze Table Lamp for Tvermoes & Abrahamsen, Denmark 1900’s

About the Item

Rare Thorvald Bindesbøll Solid Bronze Table Lamp Designed by Thorvald Bindesbøll for Tvermoes & Abrahamsen in Denmark in the 1900’s. Thorvald Bindesbøll (1846-1908) a Danish architect also better known as the first Danish Designer. Thorvald Bindesbøll was an artist known for working many in different materials but he is best known for his ceramic pieces. Thorvald Bindesbøll was also the son of the famous Danish architect M.G Bindesbøll who build the museum for Danish artists Bertel Thorvaldsen which Thorvald Bindesbøll is named after. Thorvald Bindesbøll designed the original label for the Carlsberg beer which to this day gives a good impression of his style of Danish arts and crafts also called Skønvirke in Danish. Bindesbøll entered the Kulturkanonen for his life's work. These include his glazed jars, label for Carlsberg Pilsner (HOF), furniture and the Fiskepakhusene in Skagen. Both as an architect and craftsman, he managed to free himself completely from contemporary historicism and was ahead of his time with his deeply personal style. Please note the lamp is sold without a lamp shade.
