Willy Daro (attribution), brass, tortoiseshell, lacquered wood, France, circa 1970. This table lamp is attributed to Willy Daro. The piece is typical of 1970s French design, as the style of the time was very functionalist, objective and had socialist ideals. This piece, however, along with other Willy Daro designs, is luxurious and decorative. Daro, who doesn't want to get into a certain descriptive box as a designer or artist is very versatile. Also this piece cannot be placed in a certain category, as it is sculptural and decorative but at the same time functional. Shell measurements: H 48 cm x W 44 cm.
