About the Item

A pair of beautifully cast brass early 20th century table lamps. They appear to be a pair – identical in proportion, colour and quality of casting, and with matching shades and the design of each column shares design elements but each is unique. The shades appear to be pleated silk and have fading and marks. These would benefit from cleaning but are usable and as shown. Very heavy, recently rewired and we have used here with different bulbs - but not PAT tested and I am not an electrician! So please satisfy yourself that you are happy with the condition before use - thank you. Dimensions are: Overall – 34 inches high, 16 inches diameter. Of each lamp base – 9 inches wide, 9 inches deep and 22.5 inches high to the top of the light fitting. Of each lamp shade – 16 inches diameter, 13.5 inches high.

Beautiful Art Nouveau Copper and Brass Fire Fender, circa 1890
Located in Heathfield, GB
A particularly good quality copper and brass fire fender with beautiful and elaborately cast sinuous solid brass corner spandrels of Art Nouveau design and a lovely planished copper front panel all set on flattened and beaded brass bun feet. In excellent original condition without damage and of a good large size, and with only minor and superficial marks and small dings consistent with age and careful use. In the 19th century most of the rooms in a house had a chimney for open fires and the fender would be placed to denote the hearth and stop logs rolling off and reaching the rug or soft furnishings. The fender is shown here with a pair of early 20th century brass firedogs and a duck basket...

The mirror plates are in very good order with no significant depletions or fogging and with a soft silvery hue and clear reflection. The frames with small losses, old repairs/faults but in very good condition for age. A really good and true pair of early 19th Century...
