About the Item

This domed bronze and mica lamp, a singular form, was crafted in the manner of Oscar Bach, America's foremost metal craftsman in the 1920s and 1930s. The frieze-like circular panel, featuring exaggerated masks and grape clusters, may be a Bach piece, which has been combined with other vintage and contemporary elements to create a unique table lamp. Panels of mica are set behind the bronze, so when lit the lamp exudes a lovely, ruddy glow. Bach, who immigrated to America from Germany, settled in New York City, and there he created a dizzying array of lamps, tables, candlesticks, decorative panels and other pieces that ornamented some of America's finest theaters, homes and public buildings, including Radio City Music Hall. The lamp is stamped "Oscar B Bach."
