About

Handbuilt white tin glazed pottery lampbase or candlestick designed and made by Roger Capron Vallauris, France, circa 1948. The style and construction suggest a date just after Capron wound up the Callis collective (1946-8) with Jean Derval and Robert Picault. The twin plaited branches have abstracted birds surmounting them. Drilled for electricity (original and not later). Signed to base.
