Vase and Lamp Cracked Glazed Chinese Porcelain White Ivory, Qing, China 19th C

About the Item

Very beautiful Chinese porcelain vase with cracked glaze with 2 handles in the shape of elephant heads from the Qing Dynasty, mounted as a lamp at the end of the 19th century with a very beautiful Louis XV style frame in gilded and chiseled bronze. Beautiful ivory white color. French gilt bronze mount. When it changed its destination (from vase to lamp) it was mounted as an oil lamp, hence the presence of a removable tank which is now electrified to make it an electric lamp. At the end of the 19th century, a fashion developed for Asian objects, many vases were therefore brought back from Asia at that time. During their history many of these Asian vases have been transformed into lamps in order to find a new place for them in interior decoration. Lamp or vase, it is a rare and very elegant decorative object. Vase height: 12.99 inch Lamp height: 17.32 inch Provenance: Castle in France
