Eugenio Pattarino (Artist)
Finished in luscious glazes the color of red wine and bright gold, this rare pair of Mid-Century lamps depict a cluster of Carnival revelers in masks and festive costume. The pair is signed by Eugenio Pattarino, one of Italy’s greatest post-war ceramicists. Pattarino created figures that were so elaborate and coveted that they were given by the Vatican to famous visitors like John F. Kennedy and Andre Gide. As in the grand tours of the 19th century, American tourists collected Pattarino pieces when traveling to Italy and one large 8 foot Madonna was given to the Lady of Angel Cathedral in Los Angeles.
