About the Item

An original and elegant pair of table lamps; the supporting structure is made of brass, from the sturdy round base departs a tubular stem that terminates at the top with the lamp holder; on the surface of the base is a massive Murano glass that echoes the shape of the base, above it is a brass cube that acts as a spacer with another Murano glass with a hollow rectangular shape in the center, at the top a squared piece of brass secures the glass to the stem; with this particular assembly, an original and engaging structure has been created. The warm, mellow color of the brass juxtaposed with the icy cold glass creates an essential aesthetic contrast, refined and elegant, at the same time precious and harmonious. The lamps were made between 1985 and 1990 in a small factory in Venice (Italy) and were certainly designed by a skilled master craftsman who was well acquainted with the needs and tastes of the time, he in fact combined style and functionality in a perfect way. The Murano glass used in the manufacture of the two objects was worked in a furnace by the method of mold pressing; the technique was used as early as the second half of the second millennium B.C. in Mesopotamia and Egypt; over the centuries the process was never abandoned and in Murano, it was perfected and improved in an artistic manner. The appropriate amount of molten glass was poured onto a plane and a mold of refractory clay or metal of the desired shape was pressed on top; the resulting object was left rough so that it resembled a block of ice, thus making each piece different from the next. Overall, our pair of lamps, in addition to the texture of the brass and the prestige of Murano glass, has a modern and up-to-date design, not too loaded but essential, a unique piece of furniture, refined and elegant at the same time that fits naturally and simply in both contemporary and Classic environments. The lamps are in good condition, the electrical system is working but the wiring is European, and voltage compatibility in other states should always be checked by an electrician before use.
