Marie-Claude de Fouquieres Yellow Fractal Resin and Chrome Table Lamp, 1970s
By Marie-Claude de Fouquieres, Ombre et Lumiere
Located in Atlanta, GA
French designer Marie-Claude de Fouquieres designed this stunning fractal resin table lamp for the French lighting company Ombre et Lumiere, Paris, in the 1970s. The piece boasts a large resin block with a vivid yellow color, nickel-plated base, and structure. The table lamp is rewired to fit US standards. The brand-new shade is included. The piece is engraved on the bottom: Ombre et Lumiere - Paris. The table lamp is in good condition, with tiny chips on the resin block edge, but it does not significantly affect the overall appearance. Check the close-up. Measurements: The total high with shade is 19.5 in (49.5 cm) The base is 4.32 in wide (11 cm) x 4.32 in deep (11 cm) x 13.38 in high (34 cm). Note: Marie-Claude de Fouquières was the wife of a leading French industrialist in plastics. Dissatisfied with the furniture designs available to her in the 1960s, Marie-Claude de Fouquières produced her first table in 1969 in polyester resin. She experimented with solid, massive resin sections and expanded her range of objects and furniture to include lamp bases, desks, tables, and panels. Private clients such as David de Rothschild and the Emir of Qatar or celebrated interior designers, among them David Hicks and Albert Pinto...
