About the Item

Here is an exceptional lamp by the French artist, Robert Lallemant from the late 1920s or early 1930s. The sizable body is decorated with a hand-painted zodiac motif with each sign represented. We believe this lamp was originally a vase and at some point was drilled to be fitted for a lamp, which is quite common for Lallemant's vases. Before assembling and wiring the lamp, we photographed the underside to show the signature and drill hole. We designed the walnut wood parts and had them professionally turned and finished. The shade is new and custom made. The lamp measures 28.25 inches tall with the shade and is 14" in diameter (widest point of shade). The ceramic body measures approximately 10" high by 10" in diameter. The ceramic base had a rim chip, but we had it professionally repaired and is not detectable but is pointed out for complete transparency. This lamp is stunning and extremely rare--the ceramic is a beautiful example of Robert Lallement's work.
