XXL Bi-Color "Skyscraper" Table Lamp by B D Lumica, Spain, 1970s
About the Item
This rather large table lamp is made from polished brass and chromed tubes and was created in Spain by the prominent lighting manufacturer bd Lumica.
In very good condition with almost no signs of its age and use, this is an eye-catching statement piece!
This type of bi-color design is often attributed to the celebrated Willy Rizzo, although there is no proof of Rizzo ever having made any designs for bd Lumica.
The square base is made out of geometrically arranged chrome tubes on which polished chrome and brass columns are arranged irregularly around a central column. As a result the lines of the base tubes reflect on the columns and appear like stacked cubes - resembling the skyscrapers in a city-scape.
Fitted with 3 three sockets for standard E27 light bulbs this lamp comes with its original rounded corners cube-shade and the sockets have the "bd Lumica" logo imprinted.
Thanks to its clear lines and geometric forms this lamp has an elegant appeal despite its rather substantial weight and size.
