French Terra Cotta Late 18th Century Convex Mirror
About the Item
This molded terra cotta window surround would have been used architecturally outside on a building's facade during the late 18th century in France consistent with the neoclassical overtones of the period. It would have been larger and would have been accompanied by a broken arch pediment and like devices to create a dramatic focal point. Now the outer surface as been filled and the framed molded large egg and dart frieze houses an old convex mirror glass. Very dramatic and decorative the total impact is stunning as a three-dimensional item and as a reflective mirror within the confines of an interior space. Backed in wood and ready to hang.
