Tiny 19th Century Regency Gilt Convex Mirror

About the Item

An Exceptionally Small 19th Century, Regency Period, Gilt Circular Convex Mirror, Of Incredibly Rare Proportion, Having Attractive Turned Balls And Ebonised Reeded Slip To Frame, Enclosing Original Mirror Plate, Surmounted By Elegant Carved Eagle On Rocks. This is without a doubt the smallest example of these convex mirrors which we have ever come across. It has incredible charm and elegance. Certainly it is incredibly rare to find one this small, and the fact it remains in such good condition is  major plus point of course. Talking of condition, it has certainly aged well and is as fit for purpose today as it was the day it was made, over 200 years ago. There is also absolutely no reason to believe that the mirror plate itself is not original and again that is a particularly nice feature. There is various old marks, scuffs, scrapes and rubbed areas, all of which are commensurate with age and add to the overall character of the piece without detracting from it aesthetically in the slightest. Circa 1830. Height 17in. Width 9.5in. Depth 2in.
