About the Item

Psyche mirror in solid and veneered mahogany with antique triangular pediment and feet carved in the shape of animal claws/paws (sphinx, lion). The bronze parts are on the theme of nature (flowers and leaves on the pediment, hazelnuts on the sides). The mercury glass is original. Interesting for its unusual size, probably made to order for a privileged child. Empire style, France, early 19th century. In the style of the productions of Pierre-Benoit Marcion and the Jacob Brothers. In good general condition: stain of the mirror pitted (normal for its age), some small gaps in veneer and traces of discreet restorations on two of the feet (gluing).
