About the Item

An unusual and intriguing Baltic Empire giltwood cheval mirror in the Egyptian taste. The design and rich ornamentation of this mirror is reflecting the fascination with Egyptian antiquity brought about by the Napoleonic campaigns of the late 18th century. Provenance: Private collection of the writer Graham Greene, Grove House, Oxford.
