Large giltwood mirror, Italy, 18th Century

About the Item

Large mirror in sculpted and gilt wood, decorated with foliage scrolls, acanthus leaves, fluted columns and two large cross-shaped designs on each side. The whole set on claw feet. Mercury glass and pare-closes. Parquetry at the rear. Some wear and the addition of wings under the top angel . A few minor chips, and some leaves restored, but the whole is spectacular in its overall presence and charm. Italy, probably Rome, 18th c. 178 x 120 cm
