Mid 20th Century Mosaic Art ~Birds of Paradise~ Full Length Floor Mirror
About the Item
An enormous mosaic art framed floor mirror by the artist Marjorie “Midgi” Rappaport . Measures 6 feet tall X 8 feet wide.
Marjorie was married to Robert Rice, Beverley Hills jeweler and one of the original developers of The Dunes hotel on the Las Vegas strip, late 1950's.
In the early 1960's she had a private suite in the Dunes that served as her art studio where she produced large mosaic panels such as these birds for display in the public areas of hotel. This piece being the crown jewel of her body of work.
This came to us through her private estate in The Las Vegas Country Club where it had hung in her master bedroom for many years.
Provenance from her nephew.
Both panels are signed at the bottom right corner.
Condition is very good with no missing pieces of mosaic. The wooden frame disconnects at top and bottom center so that the 2 half's can be individually crated for shipping. Mirror and wood backing could easily be replaced at buyers end to save on shipping headaches however its included if requested.
