About the Item

The Baton collection started with a simple feature: a handle. The single line becomes a gesture that is the common thread between a family of pieces that range from a candleholder to a room divider. They all share this simple yet sophisticated feature that invites you to take these objects anywhere. Sharing a cast iron base and a curved stick (Baton), they become different characters in the choreography of life. COMPONENTS, MATERIALS & FINISHES: Base in gravity die casting steel, polished and powder coated in textured black. Inox steel polished curved tube used as a handle. Steel rod fixed to the base, with a Ø 2 x 16cm vase for flowers or small bouquets, powder coated in black matt. BD is proud to announce its first collaboration with Ronan Bouroullec. The Baton Collection is an example of Ronan’s design aesthetic. His creative mind stands strong in the Baton’s slim and tall frame, in all its variations. As a paravent, vase, candle holder, valet stand, mirror and table, the Baton collection has a sublime simplicity that transforms its surroundings into a unique and personal space. It carves around the shape of a cane, generating subtle harmonies in the home or a shared space. A minimal frame with multiple uses. The collection will be released in May 2024, and a special pre-launch will be exhibited at MATTER and SHAPE during Paris Fashion Week. MATTER and SHAPE is a new and highly cultivated design salon that exhibits expressive projects in an elevated setting in the heart of Paris. They celebrate the contemporary culture of global design and will host Ronan Bouroullec’s new collection with BD from the 1st to the 4th of March, 2024.

It was founded in a nightclub in 1972 by a bunch of young architects and designers from Barcelona. They broke into the design world with a new vision: to produce and market their designs, and the designs of their friends with complete creative freedom and design criteria. Beginning with the designs of contemporaries like Ettore Sottsass, Rennie Mackintosh and Álvaro Siza, BD provoked a curiosity about design. These early pieces helped bring international recognition to the country’s design scene, and many of them still exist today.
