About the Item
Pia Maria Raeder is committed to interpreting her own abstract vision of nature. She has become globally known for her ’Sea Anemone’ series that reflects the beauty found on the ocean floor. Work by the artist is included in the permanent collection of the Muse´e des Arts De´coratifs de Paris, France.
Reminiscent of biomorphic forms, her sculptures are handcrafted from thousands and thousands of simple beechwood elements, wooden rods (‘Sea Anemone’ series) or wooden pearls (‘Stardust’ series) that are patiently arranged one by one. The breath of life seems to animate these organic creations, like the echo of a nature that is not imitated but is rather harnessed and experienced. According to Pia Maria’s own words: "With my work, I try to create pieces which are as vibrant, unique and surprising as Nature."
