Bronze Stardust Bar Stool ST01

About the Item

Pia Maria Raeder is committed to expressing her own vision of nature and translating the aesthetic beauties of the natural world into sculptural objects. Inspired by organic structures, her practice focuses on connection and a sense of wonder, inducing a form of emotional and even tactile engagement between object and viewer. In the artist’s own words: “My experimentations on materials and biomorphic forms aim at creating pieces which are as vibrant, unique and surprising as nature.” Work by the artist has joined the permanent collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, France. In 2021 Pia Maria Raeder was one of the 12 international women artists chosen by the House of Dior to reinterpret the ‘Miss Dior’ bottle and its design codes. Pia Maria Raeder has gained international acclaim for her ‘Sea Anemone’ series that evokes the beauty of the ocean floor. Each sculpture is made from thousands of beechwood rods that are meticulously arranged one by one by hand. Emancipated from its limitations, the wood thus transformed into undulating forms enjoys a new freedom. A breath of life seems to animate these organic creations, as if nature, rather than being copied, had been felt and reasserted.
