19th Century English Pier Mirror Decorated with Lions Head and Figural Griffins
About the Item
19th Century English Gilded pier mantel mirror with a crest decorated with figural lions and griffin figures from a prominent New England estate Waldinfield in Ipswich, Massachusetts. This handsome mirror sat on the mantel in the main reception room; due to age, there is some silver loss that in no way takes away from this exquisite piece. There is egg and dart with bellflower decoration al; along the sides and dental molding across the top all crowned with a magnificent crest bearing a figural lion's head flanked by two winged griffins. Original back.
