19th Century Napoleon III Gilded Wall Mirror with Rope and Tassels
About the Item
An elegant antique mirror with a crest of cords and tassels. Made in France, circa 1860 at he end of the Napoleon III period. The frame is made of pinewood, the moldings of there frame and rope and tassels are made of gesso.
Originally the mirror was gilded with gold leaf, but over the years this original gilding has weathered through polishing. The molded frame is again gilded with gold wax and patinated, it has a beautiful antique appearance. The mirror glass is in good condition, without wear and stains
