A very rare 19th Century giltwood overmantel mirror of grand proportions and exceptional quality. The mercury mirror glass plate of oval form is set within a stunningly hand carved moulded, fluted and pierced giltwood frame with gorgeous stylised lozenge and dart border detail. Surmounted with an intricately pierced centred crest composition of an arrangement of centred plaque with cartouche, scallop shell, scroll and beaded row motif detail flanked and an exquisite foliate arrangement comprising of berries and leaves, finely hand carved in high relief, the apron with further beautiful scallop shell, scroll, foliate and beaded row motif detail.
