About the Item
A substantial antique American walnut and ash overmantel mirror, circa 1870. The mirror of neoclassical form and having a swan's neck pediment to the top with applied carvings. Below are two shelves supported by turned supports, the center having one large beveled mirror flanked by two shaped and beveled mirrors. The base having two candle shelves/sconces supported by carved brackets and standing on bun feet. This mirror originally would have graced a very grand fireplace.
