A Fabulous 19th Century Giltwood Overmantel Mirror
About the Item
A fabulous 19th Century giltwood overmantel mirror, finely hand carved and of exceptional quality. The mirror glass plate of shaped rectangular form is set within a stunning pierced, moulded and fluted giltwood frame with pilaster columns to the sides and sphere detail throughout. Surmounted an elegantly ornate, centred crest composition comprising of centred flowerhead flanked with c-scrolls, acanthus leaves and trailing foliate motif detail, finely carved high relief. Supported on shaped platform base with a further gorgeous arrangement of flowerhead, c-scrolls and foliate to each side, terminating on porcelain spheres.
