About the Item
A gorgeous 19th century overmantle mirror of large proportions, beautifully restored in a distressed paint finish. The original mercury glass mirror plate with some mottling, is set within a finely hand carved and moulded giltwood frame with beaded border, rope twist and tassle motif detail. Surmounted with an elaborate pierced rope twist, bow knot cartouche, with further decorative pierced rope and tassle detail to the shaped corners of the base.
