About the Item
A rare and unusual 19th Century cast brass margin mirror. The original bevelled mirrors glass plate of rectangular form is set within a finely cast brass frame with foliate detail and is framed with four additional mirror glass plates with a stunning arrangement of stylised shell, flowerhead, etched diamond detail, trailing acanthus leaves, ruffles and beaded motif to the four corner returns. Surmounted with a fabulous centred, pierced and elaborately cast cartouche composition comprising of a centred female masque with stylised shell and feathers flanked with gorgeous scrolling foliate, acanthus leaves and scroll motif detail.
