A Very Fine 19th Century Painted and Waxed Archtop Overmantel Mirror
About the Item
A very fine and unusual beautifully hand painted and waxed overmantel mirror of exceptional quality and large proportions. The mirror glass plate of archtop form is set within a stunningly hand carved, moulded and fluted wooden frame with gorgeous foliate, egg, dart and beaded row border detail throughout. Surmounted with an intricately pierced centred crest composition of an arrangement comprising of a gorgeous centred prince of Wales feather flanked with c-scrolls, flowerhead and scrolling foliate, finely carved in high relief, with further decorative c-scroll and foliate motif detail to the shaped corners of the platform base.
