About the Item

A very fine and rare 19th Century overmantle mirror of large proportions. The mirror glass plate of rectangular form set within a stunningly hand carved moulded gilt wood frame with decorative motifs comprising of beading, lozenge, flowerhead, trailing bellhusks, egg and dart detail, supported on shaped platform base. Stamped to the reverse 'John Taylor & Son’s Edinburgh'.
