About the Item
A very rare and fine pair of 19th century overmantle or leaner mirrors of large proportions. The original bevelled mirror glass plate of rectangular form set within a moulded giltwood frame with foliate, flowerhead and leaf motif detail. Surmounted with an elaborate, pierced cartouche composition comprising of beautifully detailed Neoclassical motifs of a quiver of arrows, a flaming torch, a sheaf of wheat, ruffles, flowerheads, c and s scrolls, flanked with trailing foliate motif detail, all stunningly hand carved in high relief.
