About the Item
Tang dynasty, Chinese bronze mirror of 5 running suani beasts and grapevines. The pierced nub has a floral lotus in the centre. These mirrors were very prevalent in china among the elite status and had many uses from looking at ones self to detecting invisible spirits.
Measures: Diameter: 5.25 inches (13.3 cm)
Thickness of the rim: .2 inch (.5 cm)
Age: Presumably Sui/early Tang dynasties 618-906 AD
Condition: Worn by natural aging, beautiful patina;
Provenance: This mirror was acquired at I.M. Chait Auction House.
