About the Item
A very fine 19th Century giltwood hall mirror in the Adams design of tall proportions and exceptional quality. The stunningly hand carved moulded and fluted giltwood frame with beautiful Neoclassical motifs throughout is surmounted with an overhanging stepped cornice with decorative lambs tongue, egg and dart detail above frieze with centred panelled plaque with applied flowered paterae and bell husks framed with beaded row detail, flanked with an arrangement of swags of foliate. The bevelled mirror glass plate below of rectangular form is bordered with an arrangement of gorgeous swags of foliate, applied flowerhead paterae and a pair of elegantly simple, fluted pilaster columns with beaded row and acanthus leaf detail, supported on shaped platform base.
