Antique French 19th Century Louis XV Style Full Length Giltwood Pier Mirrors
About the Item
A rare pair of antique French 19th century Louis XV style giltwood round top shaped mirror with lovely gilded finish, original mercury plate and panelled backing.
Displaying well both floor standing or wall hung, these full lenght mirrors show attractive gilded stucco and wood featuring beautiful elaborate carvings throughout.
The rectangular frame-within-frame border boasts charming floral work design repeated on the semi circular top. The outer frame with stiff leaf castings and an inner reserve of similar form, each corner with scrolled acanthus leaves and shell motif.
Very rare to find a pair of palatial antique pier mirrors boasting such a good quality and condition.
Both of them show perfect structural condition and are very solid. Original patina, minor cosmetic wear to the plaster and very minor losses due to age and fair use.
Although there are a few small signs of wear and tear, these imposing mirrors are in overall very good condition and would add a bold statement to a large wall. Magnificently made and ready to give an elegant French taste touch to any room.
