About the Item
Pair of George II Giltwood Pier Mirrors, circa 1740, in the manner of William Kent, each of architectural form, the beveled rectangular plates within a sanded frame, molded borders, and foliate carved decoration, surmounted by an arched cresting centered by a winged mask head, the sides hung with foliate trails, the shaped apron centered with a carved shell. 48" H x 30.5" W x 4" D. Provenance: M.S. Rau, New Orleans, LA. From a Palm Beach Collection.
