About

A Pair of George II carved gilt-wood Pier Glasses in the manner of Matthias Lock. This pair of mirrors encapsulates the highly imaginative fanciful design of the french picturesque that prevailed in the mid-18th century with the nautilistic palm wrapped pallister frames, entwined floral swags with icicles and crowned with musical monkeys. English, Circa 1750 (A similar pair of mirrors attributed to Matthias Lock were sold in Sothebys Important English furniture sale, London 30 June 2004 lot no 94.)
