About the Item
A very fine 19th Century giltwood pier or dressing mirror of tall proportions and exceptional quality. The shaped, bevelled mirror glass plate is set within a stunningly hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frame with gorgeous flowerhead, stylised shell, lambs tongue and beaded row border detail. Surmounted with an intricately pierced centred crest composition of an arrangement of Neoclassical motifs, comprising of a quiver of arrows, a flaming torch and ribbon bow flanked with trailing foliate and berry motif detail, the base with a gorgeous arrangement of richly scrolling acanthus leaves to each side, all exquisitely hand carved in high relief.
