Fabulous Artisan Created Verre Églomisé Sunburst Mirror

About the Item

An artisan crafted 47.5" round-shaped starburst mirror. This artisan made in America custom mirror is nicely sized at just shy of 4 feet in diameter with a round-shaped, simple black frame with an exquisite verre églomisé gold sunburst encompassing much of it's center, surrounded by beautifully antiqued glass. The sunburst design is made of a series of alternating, thin rays bursting outwardly from the center. Verre églomisé, a French term dating back to pre-Roman eras, is the technique by which a design and gilding is applied to the rear side of the glass, with artistic detail being visible from the front. This large, round-shaped mirror with églomisé sunburst center has a timeless design, allowing it to blend seamlessly within any number of decorative styles, from traditional to modern.

A French mirror with fabulous carvings and original paint & gilt from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. This antique mirror from France features an exaggerated arch pediment top with dentil molding beneath the top trim and pair of rosy-cheeked cherub faces carved within a cloudy-ray sunburst featured prominently at top center. The arched mirror is flanked within Roman Corinthian style columns, and bell-flower trim molding adorns the inner surround. The lower frame is embellished with a floral and bow-tied ribbon motif.
