About the Item
19th century Japanese black and red lacquer table mirror with gilt and etched brass mounts, beveled glass. This mirror has a lovely shape, reminiscent of a Shinto temple. It is covered front and back with gilt brass decorative appliques and bosses, with etched floral designs, and many with open work heart shaped openings. Black lacquer with red lacquer borders, the frame holding a expertly shaped and beveled mirror glass.
This is a truly elegant piece of the best quality, no doubt created for nobility.
