This Antique 19th Century French Louis XV Style Bronze Desk Mirror With a Cherub is truly a rare and unique piece! This piece whispers tales from a bygone era and made of the highest quality and is something that will bring a sense of character and luxury into your home or place of choosing. If you take a look at the photos provided you will see the lovely patinated bronze frame which depicts a cherub holding up a tambourine. We can also see the attention to detail in the hand chased details within the bronze we can tell this piece is of high quality due to how detailed with hair, feet and hands were done and the construction, Sick mirror and detailing helped us determine the age of the piece as well. On the underside of the piece we see that the small desk mirror is stamped by the makers initials GJL. Not much is known about this maker other than the fact that lots of this maker usually fetching astronomical prices at auctions such as Sotheby's & Christies. This piece is perfect for any desk, display cabinet/vitrine or it can be used as an accent piece on a commode or chest of drawers. The mirrored panel is known as sick glass/mirror which is a process that occurs from age as it appears the mirror starts to have a reaction and becomes naturally distressed. Antique Furniture and décor has stood the test of time and this desk mirror is no exception. with its quality materials, great craftsmanship and elegant design this piece is bound to last you and your family for many years to come.
