Art Nouveau Chrysanthemum French Pewter Hand Mirror

About the Item

From the Art Nouveau period, a Pewter vanity hand mirror, France – circa 1900. Inspired by nature, Art Nouveau is an international style that emerged in the 1890s and was popular until World War 1. It is characterized by flowing lines, organic shapes, and a sense of movement. Made of Pewter, the circular back shows a domed, repousse pattern of overlapping Chrysanthemum flowers and leaves, within a wide flat rim. The handle is formed as a stylized stem or branch. The round beveled mirror is set into a crimped bezel. A heavy, well made piece, lovely on a vanity. Measuring 6.5 in. W x 8 in. L x 1 in. H The usual expected light surface wear due to age and use. Unpolished patina.
