About the Item

Elegant Late 18th Century Gustavian Mahogany Dressing Mirror An exceptionally refined Gustavian dressing mirror, crafted in Stockholm in the late 18th century, embodying the poised symmetry and restrained luxury characteristic of Sweden’s neoclassical golden age. Executed in richly toned mahogany (Swietenia mahogoni) and highlighted with fine brass mouldings, the piece displays the quiet sophistication for which Stockholm’s master craftsmen were renowned. The adjustable mirror—framed in clean, architectural lines—rests above a suite of three drawers, today perfectly suited for jewellery or cherished personal objects. The brass-edged drawer fronts, delicately turned knobs, and elegant proportions all attest to the work of a skilled atelier operating at the height of Gustavian taste. A rare example of both utility and artistry, harmonising simplicity with noble materials in a way that feels timelessly modern. Wear consistent with age and use.
