French Ormolu Figural Mirror signed August Moreau

About the Item

Antique French gilt bronze table mirror, with a reclining putti or cherub, on an onyx base, signed Aug. Moreau. An extremely Fine piece, in superb condition, the casting and chasing of the cherub is very finely executed. A beautiful piece by one of the really great Romantic French sculptors from the end of the 19th century. In great condition, signed in the bronze to the back. Born in Dijon he studied under Mathurin Moreau and exhibited mainly statuettes in marble at the Salons from 1861-1910.
